Marbling (free App) 2025

I’ve been exploring how to bring the art of paper marbling into the digital world. It's playful way to create flowing, organic patterns. I wanted my app and the interface to reflect this.

Luckily Aubrey Jaffer has great resources on the math behind marbling. Turning that theory into a fast, interactive tool was not always straight forward. In the app, you can drop or splatter ink, drag combs and tines through the colors, and watch the patterns evolve in real time. For more natural colors, I chose the Oklab color space. This project is about making creativity feel immediate and joyful.

Some ideas for features and adaptions:

• Integrating a live camera stream
• Filling paints with textures or patterns
• Multi touch or Gesture-based interactions
• Wind and twirl tools with fluid dynamics
• A paint-mixing tool
• Printing and sharing final results
